It has been a while since I have done true desert family portraits. As in, middle of the dry lake bed style portraits. This is one of my favorite locations. As a Las Vegas Family Photographer, the negative space and earthy tones this location provides inspires my soul.
Now let’s talk about this gorgeous family! This family has waited THREE years for a portrait session with me. When mom first contacted me three years ago, I was pregnant with my youngest and not taking on many clients. Fast forward three years, and she reached out again to get on my calendar for spring portraits.
After we decided on this beautiful spot, we communicated extensively with wardrobe planning. She actually had all her colors picked out prior to her session. However, I provide some advice on what colors would really compliment this spot better. So we changed things up a bit and even pulled a gorgeous dress into the mix from one of my favorite vendors, Joyfolie. I really think their outfits came together perfectly!
A lot of clients don’t realize how much a cohesive color palette impacts the look of portraits! Wardrobe planning is a HUGE part of planning what to wear for a family portrait session. The good news is, I am basically your personal shopper and stylist. Not to toot my own horn, but I am pretty amazing at helping to style my clients for their session and still keep their personal style in mind.
When we got to the session, I was well informed that her littlest one was fierce like my little one and she definitely made us all work. Not every image resulted in smiles, but if you know me, you know how much I adore the in between messy moments of life! Here are a few of my absolute favorites from their desert family portraits!
